Richard A. "Stack" Stachowicz, a graduate from Springfield College, Stack moved to Lunenburg in 1963 to teach physical education at Lunenburg High School, where he spent his entire career retiring in 2002.
During his career at Lunenburg High School he coached a number of varsity sports including softball, golf, and baseball. He also served as the school's athletic director for eight years. The one constant was his 37 years at the helm of the Blue Knight basketball program. His basketball teams amassed 426 victories, six league championships and one district title during his tenure. In 2005, he was inducted into the Massachusetts Basketball Coaches Hall of Fame and in 2007 he was a member of the inaugural class to be inducted into the Lunenburg High School Hall of Fame.
In addition to being a teacher in Lunenburg, he also served as the town's summer recreation director of over 30 years. Whether it was during the school year or over the summer months, his commitment to teaching and guiding the youth of Lunenburg was always unwavering
